Job Description - New Grad Registered Nurse Surgical ICU Full Time Days (2506001025)

Unit Specializes in: Our 20-bed surgical intensive care unit cares for patients with complex surgical diagnoses, including post-cardiac catheterization, open heart surgery, and other procedures requiring continuous monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained to care for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RNs utilize hypothermic protocols post-arrest and attend American Association of Critical-Care Nurses orientation. DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering comprehensive services such as a heart center, cancer care, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, and cosmetic procedures. Sinai-Grace features a minimally invasive joint replacement program and operates over 21 outpatient sites and ambulatory centers. It is one of ten hospitals nationally awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant for setting standards in cardiac care.

Job Description

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Registered Nurse (RN) is part of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for nursing care delivery. The RN manages patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with the healthcare team, including ancillary and support staff. The RN role encompasses leadership, partnership, teaching, supervision, and collaboration.

  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers
  • Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care
  • Provides and delegates patient care activities to team members
  • Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge
  • Reports to senior management and participates in shared decision-making
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
