Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural, and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team about changes in the patient's condition or response to treatment. Basic PC skills required. Able to work on a smoke-free campus. Must be flexible, organized, and able to function under stressful situations.

Reports to: Unit Director

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

License: Current RN license to practice in the state of Arkansas (AR)

Certifications: BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer; ACLS within 90 days of hire/transfer

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Work Experience

1 year of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

On-call as per policy.

Essential Functions

• Performs duties as assigned and requested.
• Completes focused patient assessments with reassessments based on patient condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
• Assesses and reassesses pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques.
• Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition, following the 6 rights of medication administration.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Performs treatments and provides services within licensure scope.
• Ensures patient safety and reduces errors in all aspects of care.
• Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes.
