Summary of Duties

Provide direct care to residents as needed in accordance with care plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Supervise daily nursing activities performed by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Medication Assistants Certified (MAC), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA).

Essential Job Functions

• Direct daily nursing functions of LPNs, MACs, and CNAs, ensuring care aligns with residents' care plans and facility policies.
• Provide resident care including assessments, care planning, treatments, medications, interventions, and documentation of responses.
• Communicate with physicians, nursing directors, and staff regarding residents' status, admissions, and shift activities.
• Make rounds with physicians as needed and document care and treatments.
• Review and transcribe physician orders, ensuring execution.
• Meet with residents and/or family members as necessary and report issues to the supervisor.
• Complete medication pass audits, count medications, and report discrepancies.
• Complete required forms, records, and reports.
• Coordinate resident activities and inform staff of new admissions.
• Report discrepancies, problems, or issues regarding resident care.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited nursing school and licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alabama. One year of experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.

Specific Requirements

• Current, unencumbered RN license in Alabama.
• Current CPR certification.
• Computer skills with the ability to learn relevant software.
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
