Job Summary
Provide direct care to residents according to care plans and policies, supervise daily nursing activities performed by Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Medication Assistants Certified (MAC), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA).
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee daily nursing functions of LPNs, MACs, and CNAs, ensuring care complies with resident care plans and facility policies.
- Provide resident care, including assessments, care planning, treatments, medications, and interventions, documenting responses accordingly.
- Communicate with physicians, nursing leadership, and staff regarding resident status, admissions, and shift activities.
- Make rounds with physicians as necessary and document care and treatment.
- Review and transcribe physician orders, ensuring proper execution.
- Meet with residents and families as needed, reporting issues to supervisors.
- Conduct medication pass audits and report discrepancies.
- Complete necessary forms, records, and reports.
- Coordinate resident activities and inform staff of new admissions.
- Report discrepancies and issues regarding resident care to nursing leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Alabama.
- One year of experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Current, unencumbered RN license in Alabama.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency with computer software.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Mobility throughout the workday.
- Reaching, bending, and stooping as needed.
- Adequate vision and hearing or prosthetics to perform duties.
- Ability to push, pull, or move at least 100 pounds with proper mechanics.
- Stand and walk for 75% of the day.
- Manage mental and emotional stress effectively.
