Registered Nurse Supervisors at the Department of Corrections ensure that nursing services run smoothly and safely in a secure facility. This role blends leadership responsibilities with hands-on clinical oversight to support high-quality patient care. As a Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Leadership: Supervise nursing and support staff, provide training, and maintain consistent coverage on all shifts
• Care Oversight: Implement nursing care plans, check vital signs, administer medications, and guide staff to meet patient needs
• Clinical Support: Assist clinicians during examinations, deliver treatments and screenings, and provide health education to patients
• Emergency Response: Assess urgent situations, deliver emergency care, and coordinate with clinical and custody staff
• Record and Medication Management: Document care in the electronic record, prepare reports, and ensure proper handling of controlled substances
• Facility Readiness: Sterilize equipment, maintain supply inventories, and follow infection control procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have Fridays and Saturdays off.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Registered Nurse (commonwealth title);
• Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

• You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

This position issubject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.

You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

• Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
• Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower class by the posting closing date with no break in service.
