Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse to care for patients recovering from cardiac procedures. Work is 12-hour nights on a Stepdown unit, bridging ICU and general floors, with emphasis on telemetry, meds, and patient education.

You will monitor cardiac status, administer medications, perform assessments, educate families, and respond to emergencies with CPR and defibrillation as needed. Requires active RN license, BCLS, ACLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state.
• BCLS required on hire and maintained.

• Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' cardiac status, telemetry, and vital signs.

Department: Stepdown (Cardiac Care Unit - Progressive Care)

Shift’s Available: Nights

Employment Type: Part Time

Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS

The Stepdown Registered Nurse specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks.The Step-Down RN offer an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor.Step-Down Nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• M onitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect any changes or abnormalities, which is crucial for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, heart attacks, or other cardiac conditions
• A dminister medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain management medications
• P erform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical assessments, review medical histories, and evaluate symptoms
• P rovide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices
• React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, necessitating immediate implementation of emergency procedures, administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and aiding in defibrillation and other crucial life-saving measures

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
• BCLS upon hire and maintain current.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintained current.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
