RTO after booking is not allowed and is not permitted to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in cancellation and DNR.
REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP:
Minimum Years of Experience: Must have 2 years of surgical unit experience.
Traveler Experience: Preferred but not required.

Skills: PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Manage Cardiac and Vasoactive drips (no titration), Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac.
Certs: BLS, ACLS, NIH.
Preferred Skills / Certs / Exp: Charge nurse experience, Level 1 Trauma, Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
JOB DETAILS:
Ratios: 1:3/4 for surgical/medicine stepdown patients; if stepdown beds are not full, may care for medical surgical floor patients at 1:6 ratio. Expect handling stepdown patients 40% of the time, MS patients 60%.
Shift: 12 HR NIGHTS; 36 or 48 hours accepted. OT billed after 48 hours if applicable.
RTO: Max 7 days.
Float Requirement: Like Units or Med/Surg Floor Patients.
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Additional: May be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams, report during disasters, possible unit consolidation mid-contract.
Patient Diagnoses: Wide range including surgical, trauma, and medical conditions such as Appendicitis, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Gun Shots, Stabbings, Cancers, Kidney Stones, Bowel Obstruction, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Hernia, Gangrene.
Special Procedures/Unit Details: Inpatient surgical procedures and trauma care including Cholecystectomy, Appendectomy, Hernia Repair, TURP, Ostomy, Wound Debridement, Tumor Removal, Kidney Stone Removal, Amputations, Fem Pop Bypass.
Special Equipment: Wound Vacs, Chest Tubes, NG/Corpak, JP Drains, Hemovac, Penrose Drains.
Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR.
Scheduling: As needed.
Orientation: 2 days hospital, 24 hours floor training.
Scrubs: Navy or Navy on bottom/White Top.
*Must pass EKG testing prior to start.*
Facility: New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Crisis Response Unit.
Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15).
Overtime: 40 hours/week at 1.25x.
Call Back: 1.5x; Holiday: 1.5x.
Holidays observed with specific times.
