Summary: To provide direct nursing services to students in a school setting. All duties are performed in accordance with district/cooperative/state board of education policies and procedures and state law regarding nurse practice. Will also assist the classroom teacher/therapists in theimplementation of the instructional program for students within the educational environment.
Reports To: Classroom Teacher and School Nurse Consultant
Qualifications: Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Experience with pediatric population
Current registered nurse licensure in Illinois
Current first-aid and CPR program completion
Meets Illinois State Board of Education requirements for Educator Licensure with
Stipulations (paraprofessional)
A valid Illinois driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
Physical
Requirements: The job requires physical exertion (e.g. lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs,
transferring students, driving; assisting students with activities of daily living.)
Professional
Evaluation: Standard practice is to conduct evaluations annually. Evaluations are conducted by the
classroom teacher or program coordinator with input from school nurse consultant
