Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Health Services team. You will provide direct nursing care, assess health needs, and coordinate with parents and staff to support student well-being.

This 10-month position includes administering medications, maintaining health records, and implementing Student Health Plans. An Illinois RN license and CPR certification are required, with duties primarily at school sites.

Qualifications

• Associate, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited nursing program.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides health assessment, emergency assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and management for students, staff, and families.
• Implements Student Health Plans in the school environment.
• Participates in Communicable Disease reporting and prevention in schools.
• Administers direct nursing care as ordered and defined by physician order and guidelines.
• Distributes medications within established procedures and communicates with parents and physician as needed.
• Documents health office visits and student immunizations for state requirements.
• Reports data to ISBE, IDPH, and DHS for mandated health programs.

Function / Position Summary

To work with parents, staff members, and other community resources to assist and promote healthofstudentsbyprovidingdirectnursingcareandidentifying,intervening,andpreventing health problems in the educational environment.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

• Provideshealthassessment,emergencyassessment,planning,intervention,evaluation, and management for students, staff, and families and ensure safety of students with health concerns by providing appropriate information to staff regarding classroom implications for student health concerns.
• ImplementsStudentHealthPlansintheschoolenvironment.
• ParticipatesinCommunicableDiseasereportingandthepreventionofcommunicable disease in schools.
• Administersdirectnursingcareasorderedanddefinedbyphysicianorderandin compliance with established nursing practice guidelines.
• Administersmedicationswithintheparametersofestablishedproceduresand communicates with parents and physician as needed.
• Identifiesabnormalhealthfindingsandprovidescommunityhealthcareresourcesas needed to students and parents.
• Documents accurately and maintain records for all health office visits, student physical/immunizationsforcompliancewithstatemandatedrequirementsforentrance into school.

Education

• Associate,Bachelor'sorMaster'sdegreefromaccreditednursingprogram.
• AcurrentRegisteredNurse(RN)licenseinthestateofIllinois.
• Currentcertificateincardiopulmonaryresuscitation(CPR).

• Highschools8 hours per day – 5 days per week.
• Specializedassignmenthourswillbebasedonstudentneedsanddistrictapproval.
• Assignmentsarepredominatelyatonelocation,butallnursesaredistrict-widestaff. Changes in assignment may occur.
• DresscoderequirementsscrubpantsandtopwithaU-46IDvisibleatalltimes.
