Job summary

HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, FL seeks a Registered Nurse RN for Trauma ICU Step Down to join our caring healthcare team. The role focuses on high-quality, patient-centered care across pre- and post-operative phases, with emphasis on advocacy and patient experience.

In collaboration with providers, you will assess, document, and administer medications, while staying current on cardiac and med-surgical care standards.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification or enrolled with 6 months of start date.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification within 6 months of employment start date.
• APRN or RN licensure required.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, reporting changes.
• Perform procedures or functions ordered by medical providers.
• Document care in the patient record promptly and thoroughly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
• Maintain knowledge of meds, procedures, and equipment for cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or (RN) Registered Nurse
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

We are the only state-designated Level II trauma center in Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. We have received verification by the American College of Surgeons.
