General Summary of Position

Surgical Transplant ICU

The specialized 24-bed critical care unit is staffed by highly dedicated and experienced nurses, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals trained to care for acutely ill surgical patients. Surgical specialties include transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel), thoracic surgery, plastic-reconstructive surgeries, vascular surgery, abdominal, and ear, nose, and throat surgery. The STICU is equipped with state-of-the-art therapies at the bedside, including continuous renal replacement, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, complex mechanical ventilation modes, and medication infusions. Our professional expertise and patient care model have resulted in outstanding clinical outcomes, recognized nationally. The unit supports participation in shared governance, research, continuing education, and national specialty certification. The STICU has received the Gold Level Beacon Award for Nursing Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide proficient nursing care to patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential problems in specific patient populations, analyze trends and changes in patient status, and plan appropriate interventions either directly or through collaboration with other nurses.
