General Summary of Position

Surgical Transplant ICU

The specialized 24-bed critical care unit is staffed by highly dedicated and experienced nurses and intensivists, complemented by skilled respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals trained to care for acutely ill surgical patients. Surgical specialties include transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel), thoracic surgery, plastic-reconstructive surgeries, vascular surgery, abdominal and ear, nose and throat surgery. The STICU is equipped to provide patients with state-of-the-art therapies at the bedside (continuous renal replacement), advanced hemodynamic monitoring, complex mechanical ventilation modes and medication infusions. The synergy between our professional expertise and our patient care model allows for clinical outcomes and results which are among the best in the nation. Unit leadership supports participation in shared governance, research, and continuing education as well as national specialty certification. The STICU is the proud recipient of the Gold Level Beacon Award for Nursing Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.
