Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room. This full-time role offers 8- or 10-hour shifts, weekend/holiday on-call rotation, and a 1:1 patient ratio in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Eligible candidates may receive up to a $20,000 bonus. The OR team collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Current state RN license required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• CPR certification.
• Minimum 1 year nursing experience; OR/ASC experience preferred.
• CNOR preferred.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and plan perioperative care to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Apply aseptic technique and perioperative nursing principles.
• Document operative records accurately in the EHR.
• Manage equipment, instruments, and supplies in the OR.
• Coordinate time-out and support patient safety initiatives.
• Assist with teaching students and orienting new staff.
• Participate in required meetings and continued education.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room

Job Type: Full-time | Variable 10 or 8‑hour shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and on‑call

Up to $20,000 bonus for eligible candidates

How You'll Contribute

• Assess the needs of patients and develop a plan of care during their surgical intervention to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Understand and apply the principles of aseptic technique and peri‑operative nursing.
• Provide complete and accurate documentation for all operative records within the electronic health record (op‑time) system.
• Possess knowledge and demonstrate proper use, care, and handling of all equipment, instruments, and supplies within the operating room environment.
• Accept accountability for the clinical care of patients.
• Initiate and coordinate time‑out and support all patient safety initiatives.
• Participate in teaching students, orienting new personnel, and providing continuing education for OR staff.
• Attend, participate, and complete all required meetings, in‑services, and educational programs annually.
• Assess, recognize, record, and report to appropriate surgical team members any signs/symptoms or changes in a patient’s condition.
• Participate on committees and special assignments as needed.
• Participate in professional organizations such as AORN and be encouraged to seek certification as an operating room nurse.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient/employee information.
• Support and follow all AORN/AAMI/OSHA standards and recommended practices.
• Maintain knowledge of disaster planning and be able to fulfill a role in specific disaster plans.
• Participate in reviewing and revising the philosophies, objectives, procedure cards, policies, and job descriptions on a continual basis.
• Participate in quality control programs and follow universal precautions.

What We're Looking For

• Applicants must have a current state RN license and possess an associate(s) or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
• CPR certification.
• One year minimum of nursing experience and/or equivalent surgical experience.
• CNOR preferred.
• Operating room circulating nurse/ASC experience preferred.
