Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room. The role offers 8- or 10-hour shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call duties, with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and a strong surgical team.

You'll be responsible for aseptic technique, perioperative care, precise documentation in the op-time system, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff.

Qualifications

• Current state RN license.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• CPR Certification.
• One year minimum of nursing experience and/or equivalent surgical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient needs and plans care during surgical intervention to optimize outcomes.
• Applies aseptic techniques and peri-operative nursing principles.
• Documents all operative records in the op-time EHR system.
• Manages equipment, instruments, and supplies in the OR.
• Coordinates time-outs and supports patient safety initiatives.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Job Type: Full-time | Variable 10 or 8-hour Shifts, rotating weekends, holiday and On-call

Up to $20,000 bonus for eligible candidates

Schedule: A total of 10 days per 2 week pay period. Orientation is 4-6 months and is all daylight shift. 24hr trauma call shift, on call and weekends/holidays. Schedule is made to be fair with number of weekends and holidays staff take across all employee

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN), who excels in this role:

• Assesses the needs of the patients and develops plan of care for the patient during their surgical intervention in order to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Understands and applies the principles of aseptic technique and peri-operative nursing.
• Provides complete and accurate documentation for all operative records within the electronic health record (op-time) system.
• Possesses knowledge and demonstrates the proper use, care and handling of allequipment, instruments and supplies within the operating room environment.
• Accepts accountability for clinical care of patient
• Initiates and coordinates time out and supports all patient safety initiatives.
• Participates in teaching students, orientation of new personnel and providing continuing education for OR staff.
• Attends, participates and completes all required meetings, in‑services and educational programs annually.
• Assesses, recognizes, records and reports to appropriate surgical team members all signs/symptoms or changes in patient's condition.
• Participates on committees and special assignments as needed.
• Participate in professional organizations such as AORN. Encouraged to seekcertification as an operating room nurse.
• Maintains confidentiality with regards to patient/employee information.
• Supports and follows all AORN/AAMI/OSHA Standards and Recommended Practices.
• Maintains knowledge of disaster planning and can fulfill a role in specific disaster plans.
• Participates in reviewing revising the philosophies, objectives, procedure cards, policy/procedure, and job descriptions on a continual basis.
• Participates in quality control programs/ Follows Universal Precautions
• Commits to service excellence. Continually strives toward achievement of the CARING values and creating the Ideal Patient Experience.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• CPR Certification
• One year minimum of nursing experience and/or equivalent surgical experience
• CNOR preferredOperating Room circulating nurse/ASC experience preferred
