Position: RN Supervisor
A licensed professional nurse directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services. The RN Supervisor is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, developing, and directing nursing services to ensure the highest quality of resident care at all times.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current nursing licensure in the practicing state.
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
- Good mental, emotional, and physical health.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure residents have a clean, safe, orderly, and comfortable environment.
- Initiate resident Plans of Care upon admission.
- Implement recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.
- Develop, review, revise, and update resident Plans of Care.
- Notify attending/alternate physicians and legal guardians of significant health changes or emergencies.
- Review family complaints and grievances, and notify the Director of Nursing Services as needed.
- Evaluate emergencies and assist in emergency response measures.
- Maintain a clean and safe unit environment with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Notify physicians of resident incidents, complete accident/incident reports, and document in medical records.
- Assist in investigating alleged abuse or unusual occurrences.
- Start and monitor intravenous medications as ordered.
- Assist nursing staff with procedures, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Address findings and deficiencies from health inspections and quality reviews.
- Complete assessments such as restraint, pain, oral, psychotropic, bowel, bladder, and I & O evaluations.
- Ensure proper documentation of nursing notes reflecting care provided and resident responses.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Supervision
- Conduct resident rounds to ensure quality care.
- Meet with nursing staff to address issues and improve care.
- Assist in physician rounds if necessary.
- Help revise and distribute nursing assignments during shortages.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing personnel, participate in disciplinary actions.
Consumer Service
- Present a professional image through dress, behavior, and speech.
- Resolve resident concerns following company standards.
- Protect resident rights at all times.
