Job summary

Deer Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking an RN Supervisor to provide direct nursing care and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team to assess and plan patient care.
• Prepare and administer medications and document as prescribed.
• Educate patients on procedures and record vitals and medical information.
• Monitor equipment and interpret displays to ensure patient safety.
• Initiate corrective actions when adverse symptoms arise.
• Provide bedside care for a wide range of patients, including pre- and post-surgery.
• Assist with discharge planning and documentation.

Position Description

The RN Supervisor will provide direct nursing care to the residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may also be required by the Director of Nursing to always maintain the highest degree of quality care.

Responsibilities of the RN Supervisor:

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Prepare and administer (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, starts IVs Participate in discharge planning.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.

Requirements of the RN Supervisor:

• First aid and CPR certification
• Current RN license in the state of Virginia
• Exceptional staff training and customer service skills
• Compassionate and friendly demeanor
