General Summary:

As the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse I (CN I) is responsible for directing care for a team of patients, with the CN II as a resource. The nursing care includes independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Demonstrates competencies in using all equipment necessary for patient care across various age groups. The CN I is the entry level on the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder, with a pathway to progress to CN II within one year.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.
• Current Ohio Registered Nurse licensure and BLS/CPR certification.
• Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period.
• Completes Orientation Checklist and maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually, including Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification.
• Basic theoretical knowledge and initial clinical experience in providing nursing care for diverse patients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals from varied backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

Moderate physical exertion required; occasional exposure to adverse conditions.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to Nurse Manager or, in their absence, the Administrative Supervisor. May receive instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse.

Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.

Shift/Schedule:

Part-Time: 24 hours weekly, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, from 7 am to 7 pm. Work 24 hours but paid for 32 hours. Includes full-time medical benefits.
