General Summary:

As the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse I (CN I) is responsible for directing care for a team of patients, using the CN II as a resource. The nursing care involves independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Demonstrates competencies in equipment used in patient care across all age groups. The CN I is the entry level on the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder, with a pathway to progress to CN II within one year.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.
• Current Ohio RN licensure and BLS/CPR certification.
• Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probation.
• Maintains at least 12 contact hours of continuing education annually, including Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification.
• Basic theoretical knowledge and initial clinical experience in nursing care for various patients.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

Moderate physical exertion; occasional exposure to adverse conditions.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to Nurse Manager or, in their absence, the Administrative Supervisor. May receive instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse.

Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.

Shift/Schedule:

Part-Time, 24 hours weekly, scheduled for Saturday & Sunday, 7 am - 7 pm. Work 24 hours but paid for 32 hours. Full benefits included.
