Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, in Johnstown, PA, seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical-Surgical (Step Down) unit. This full-time role offers 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday rotation and up to a $20,000 bonus. You will provide patient care, discharge planning, and interprofessional collaboration to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes. A state RN license and ADN/BSN are required. BLS within 30 days; CPR and ACLS preferred.

Our 22-bed Neurology-Neurosurgery Unit

provides specialized care for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, altered mental status, and post-surgical recovery, while also supporting a medical-surgical population.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

• Coordinates the Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing Licensure requirement and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Provides patient assessment throughout patient stay and participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers.
• Initiates and updates individualized patient plan of care (IPOC).
• Adheres to the 10 Rights of medication administration.
• Collaborate with physicians as part of Interdisciplinary Team.
• Is knowledgeable regarding patient condition, completes patient assessment and reassessment, reports changes to the Physician.
• Reports patient's status and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety.
• Implements the interventions identified in the established plan of care and collaboration with members of the Patient Care Team.
• Demonstrates annual competencies.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information.
• Maintains accountability and productivity for appropriate staffing following the flexible staffing plan.
• Attends and participates as a minimum requirement six staff meetings annually.Reads all staff meeting minutes.
• Maintains proficiency in all aspects of Care Manager/AS 400/Bar Code medication administration.
• Participates in Process Improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve patient outcomes.
• Commitments to Service Excellence
• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of patient's rights and patient responsibilities.
• Actively participates with the development and implementation of unit specific evidence- based initiatives to improve the outcome of nurse sensitive indicators.
• Attends educational sessions as directed by the nurse manager to gain knowledge about new treatment options, procedures, or equipment. Timely renewal of PA State RN licensure.
• Competency for accessing and reviewing Care Board/Care Organizer completed upon orientation.
• Continuous display of Care Board/Care Organizer at workstation to capture any new electronic orders. Works with Unit Clerk to confirm electronic orders for safe, timely implementation into patient's care.
• TeleTracking Board (Patient Placement): enters transfers, updates comments, pending discharges, confirmed discharges, updates milestones and enters the patient into Patient Transport for testing.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

CPR Certification

One year of acute care experience or other comparable nursing experience

ACLS certification preferred
