Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Behavioral Health and Geriatric units. This full-time night shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am, rotating weekends/holidays) role requires an active RN license and BLS certification.

You will provide direct patient care, educate patients and families, and participate in crisis intervention and treatment planning. Responsibilities include administering medications, recording histories, and supporting follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Must hold current valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary treatment team processes and behavioral health programming.
• Understanding the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate patient care, educate patients and families about conditions, and provide emotional support.
• Run therapeutic groups and perform psychiatric crisis intervention when needed.
• Record patient histories, assist with diagnostics, and monitor treatments and medications.
• Conduct post-treatment follow-up and support rehabilitation efforts.

Responsibilities

Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
