Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Behavioral Health unit for night shifts in Chicago. You will provide direct patient care, education, and support to patients and families, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced inpatient/outpatient setting.

The role requires an active RN license, current BLS, and strong knowledge of mental health laws and care standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold current and valid State RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain it.
• Working knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards.
• Understanding of interdisciplinary treatment team processes in behavioral health.
• Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and education, and support patients and families.
• Record medical histories, assist with diagnostics, and monitor treatments.
• Administer medications and supervise follow-up and rehabilitation activities.
• Teach illness management, diet, exercise, and self‑care to patients.

Overview

• Schedule: Full Time, Nights, 7:00 pm – 7:30 am (rotating weekends and holidays)

• Compensation: $35.35 to $53.58 per hour

Responsibilities

Registered nurses (RNs) perform basic duties that include treating patients, educating patients about mental and medical conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients’ and/or family members, running therapeutic groups, psychiatric crisis intervention, seclusion and restraint of patients. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help to perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation. RNs teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy. Other related duties.

Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units. 5. Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
