Job summary

Applewood Centers is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse (RN) for our residential behavioral health program in Cleveland, OH. This full-time day-shift role supports children and adolescents with mental health needs and works with a multidisciplinary team.

You will assess clients, educate on medications, document observations, and coordinate with families and community resources. A valid Ohio RN license and PMH training are required; BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required. Specialized training in or certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
• Licensure/ Certification: Active Ohio Nursing license. RN required. BLS certification preferred.
• Competency/Skills: Clear communication, professional conduct, teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and case managers.
• Collaborate with clients, caregivers, and significant others.
• Provide behavioral health education and behavioral management strategies.
• Assess clients for additional treatment needs and link with services.
• Knowledge of physical health aspects, including medication education and side effects.
• Provide clients with community resources.
• Provide day-to-day leadership as shift charge nurse.
• Meet with clients independently for triage as referred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

AGENCY SUMMARY:

Applewood Centers is a premier provider of community-based behavioral health services in Northeast Ohio. We are currently looking for a flexible, caring, and organized Psychiatric Nurse interested in providing and enhancing their skills in a residential behavioral health setting. As the RegisteredNurse for our Residential Program, you will be joining a passionate team dedicated to treating children and adolescents with mental and behavioral health issues.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists and case managers both within and outside of the agency
• Collaborating with clients, caregivers, and significant others
• Providing behavioral health education and behavioral management strategies while holding client accountable
• Assessing clients for additional treatment needs and linking them with needed services
• Having knowledge of physical health aspects of client care, including weight, nutrition, medication education, assessing and education of side effects, risks and benefits of medication
• Proving clients with community resources
• Provide leadership in the day to day activities of the department (as a shift charge nurse)
• Meeting with clients independently as referred by Psychiatrists and psychiatric APRN's and for triage
• Communicate and document observations and interventions, while seeking and utilizing guidance from team members
