Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The position is full-time with night shifts 6:45pm–7am, offering a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

The PCU provides bridge care between ICU and medical-surgical units with advanced monitoring. The role emphasizes patient care planning, teamwork, and timely communication to ensure safe transfers, discharges, and optimal outcomes for a diverse patient

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Active AZ or Compact RN license.
  • 1–2 years of RN experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan of care including medications, specimens, and treatments.
  • Documents care and communicates patient condition to the care team.
  • Detects changes in patient status and escalates as needed.
  • Prioritize patient problems with highest urgency.
  • Assist with activities of daily living.
  • Collaborate across disciplines for transfers, discharge, and psychosocial needs.

At Canyon Vista Medical Center, our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) serves as a vital bridge between intensive care and medical-surgical services, providing advanced monitoring and specialized treatment for patients who require a higher level of care. As part of our Critical Care Services, the PCU is an 12-bed step-down unit supported by experienced clinicians, advanced technology, and a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

How You'll Contribute
Essential Functions
  • RN performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

  • Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate health care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.

  • Assigns priorities to the patient's problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

What we're looking for:

Applicants should have a current Arizona or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Must have an active AZ or Compact RN License.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Must obtain ACLS within 90 days of hire.
