Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Post Anesth Care Unit in Somerset is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced PACU environment. The RN will administer medications, document practices, and coordinate with the care team.

Qualified candidates must hold an active NJ RN license, BSN or commit to obtaining one, and have BLS and ACLS; PALS within 3 months is required. ICU experience is preferred, with strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Active NJ Registered Nurse license is required.
• BSN required or must sign a 5 year agreement to obtain BSN.
• BLS through American Heart Association is required.
• ACLS is required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 3 months of hire.
• Good computer skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• ICU experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
• Administer medications accurately and document per policy.
• Demonstrate procedures and maintain safety and quality patient care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and supervise delegation of tasks.

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse is expected to ensure the delivery of safe and quality patient care. Perform, adapt and safely demonstrate procedures required by patients according to policies and procedures. Administer medications accurately and safely. Document according to policies and procedures and demonstrating technical skills specific to the nursing unit.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active NJ Registered Nurse license required
• BSN required OR must sign a 5 year agreement to obtain your BSN
• Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association AHA required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS required
• Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of hire
• Good computer skills
• Good Communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexible and Adaptable
• ICU experience required

Preferred

• ER experience will be considered
• Epic experience preferred
• Certification preferred

Scheduling Requirements

• Evening Shift, 24 Hours per week, Weekend Requirements, On Call requirements

Essential Functions

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient's needs.
