Job summary

Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, OR seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Perioperative/Preoperative unit for PRN/on-call coverage. You will prep patients for procedures, deliver high-quality care, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.

The role requires current RN licensure, an associate degree (BSN preferred), and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Willingness to work flexible shifts and contribute to improvement initiatives is valued.

Qualifications

• RN license active in state or compact.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Previous pre- and post-anesthesia experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for surgical procedures in the Preoperative unit.
• Delivers compassionate, high-quality care and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.
• Assists physicians and ensures safe medication administration following the six rights.
• Educates patients and families on procedures, recovery, and expectations.
• Performs duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our 12-bed Preoperative unit, you will play a vital role in preparing patients for surgical procedures, delivering compassionate, high-quality care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. How you'll contribute

• Performs duties as assigned and requested.
• Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
• Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
• Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
• Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
• Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
• Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
• Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
