RWJBarnabas Health is hiring an RN for the Pediatric Unit in New Brunswick, NJ. This night-shift role offers 36 hours per week, with opportunities for growth within a safety-focused, team-based culture.

The position requires NJ RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS; 3–5 years pediatric experience. AASN is required, BSN strongly preferred, and EPIC EMR proficiency is a plus.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and PALS certifications required
• 3–5 years Pediatric RN experience required
• Associate degree in Nursing required
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing strongly preferred; patient care experience and EMR proficiency (EPIC) beneficial

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, intervening early and advocating for patients
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care
• Serve as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers to support timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they are informed and prepared
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR to promote continuity and safety
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds to enhance communication and transitions of care
• Collaborate in a team-based environment with shared accountability to drive outcomes
• Pursue professional growth through CE opportunities and clinical ladder programs

The Pediatric Unit is a 24-bed unit that provides specialized comprehensive care to pediatric patients and their families from newborn to 11 years of age with a wide range of complex medical and surgical diagnosis. The multidisciplinary team delivers high quality family centered care to both acute and chronic populations and evidence-based treatment focused on achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. An Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification and a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification are required. 3–5 years of Pediatric RN experience is required. Previous Pediatric Acute Care RN experience is preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position is Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7pm-7:30am.
