Schedule: Part-time, 24 hours per week

Shift: Variable shifts – may include 7 am – 7 pm, 12 pm – 12 am, or 7 pm – 7 am

Role Overview:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering coordinated nursing care to a patient or group of patients in the pediatric emergency department. This includes supervising and directing clinical activities of nursing staff, utilizing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation skills to provide compassionate, competent, and cost-effective care. The nurse will follow established policies, procedures, and protocols under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Director, or designee.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
• Provide all aspects of therapeutic nursing care, demonstrating competency in procedures appropriate to the patient’s age group.
• Physically assess patients, identify needs, and prioritize diagnoses based on assessment data.
• Administer prescribed medical regimens, including IVs, blood products, and medications, adhering to standards and protocols.
• Accurately process physicians' orders, document responses, and ensure timely and correct documentation.
• Coordinate and delegate nursing care activities, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Create a safe environment, monitor patient status, and follow infection control policies.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and document accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, demonstrating professionalism and teamwork.

Qualifications:

• Associate of Science degree in Nursing
• Current RN licensure in Florida or multistate license
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• At least one year of Pediatric Nursing experience
