AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking an experienced RN for the PCU Thoracic Pulmonary unit on a night shift. You will assess patients, develop care plans, administer medications, and educate families in a high-acuity environment.

The role requires an RN license, BLS/ACLS, and 1+ year acute care experience; excellent teamwork and communication are essential to coordinate care across disciplines.

Unit Highlights

PCU Thoracic Pulmonary (WT8) is a designated step-down unit for patients recovering from cardiothoracic surgical procedures including coronary bypass grafting, thoracic surgeries including esophagogastrostomy, and lung resections. We care for many patients with complex, post-operative needs including Atrium chest tube management and Thopaz chest drain management.

Schedule

Full-time, 36 hours per week Shift: Nights, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am (with weekend rotation)

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
