Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is seeking an RN to join the PCU Neurosurgical unit (GT10), a 40-bed progressive care unit that handles complex neuro cases. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop and adjust individualized care plans, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes.

This full-time night-shift position offers 36 hours per week (3 twelve-hour shifts, 7:00 pm–7:00 am) at 601 East Rollins Street, Orlando.

Qualifications

• Associate's in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's in Nursing preferred.
• 1+ year in acute care hospital setting preferred.
• RN license and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients across multiple factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and revise as needed.
• Administer medications and therapies safely per orders and protocols.
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and self-care.
• Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record.

Job Description:

Unit Highlights:

• PCU Neurosurgical (GT10) is a 40-bed progressive care unit that cares for some of the most unique neuro cases. Our patient population is unique, and each case is different in the way we provide care. We work with surgical drains, incisions, shunts, lumbar drains, spinal cord stimulators, lumbar surgeries, craniotomies, and more.

Schedule: FT, 36 hours per week

Shift: Nights, 3 12-hour shifts - 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Location: 601 East Rollins, Orlando, FL

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.

• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.

• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.

• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Organizational and multi-tasking skills

• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures

• Ability to work as a Team player within a unit

• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills

• EKG competency

• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills)

• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows based programs

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes
