Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Part Time PASS Office Nurse to support pre-assessment screening. The RN will review charts, perform pre-op testing reviews with physicians and anesthesia, and conduct pre-surgical calls.

Day shift Monday–Friday, with focus on safe patient care and efficient preoperative processes. Candidates must have RN licensure and may be required to obtain ACLS/PALS/BLS within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• RN degree or diploma required.
• ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.
• PALS certification within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform chart workup and pre-op testing review.

Our PASS department is our Pre Assessment screening. The RN will do chart workup and investigation. Works with MDs and anesthesia reviewing pre-op testing results to ensure a safe surgical journey. Also conducts the pre-surgical calls.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
• PALS within 1 year of hire.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

• 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care nursing in ICU or Surgical Setting (preferred)
