Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse II to lead a Care Delivery Team, directing nursing care across a defined patient group with independent assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. You will precept new staff and demonstrate Mercy Clinical Ladder competency.

The role requires Ohio RN licensure, ACLS, ongoing CE and strong communication skills with diverse teams and patients. Full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of a state-accredited nursing school.
• Current Ohio RN license and successful orientation completion.
• Minimum CE hours; Fire Safety and CPR recertification; ACLS required.

Job description

THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse II (CN II) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients. He/she demonstrates clinical competency, evidence of nursing leadership, and coordinates the nursing care of a specific group of patients. Nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Precepts new employees as assigned. Demonstrates competencies in the use of equipment essential in the care of patient age groups as indicated. A CN II is the second step of the Mercy (MERCY) Clinical Ladder. This is the competent Staff Nurse level.

Minimum Knowledge And Skills, Etc.

• Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure from the state of Ohio as an RN.
• Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes Orientation Checklist.
• Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety and CPR Re-certification. ACLS is required.
• Must have theoretical knowledge combined with clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.

Working Conditions

Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.

Reporting Relationships

• Responsible to Nurse Manager, or in his/her absence, the Administrative Supervisor. May receive direct instructions from Charge Nurse or Director.
• Workers supervised: Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.

Shift/Schedule

Full Time - Scheduled for 32 Weekly Hours 1-12 hr shift and 2-10 hr shifts

Shift Time - Variable

Some On Call required
