Job summary

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center PACU in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. 4 shifts per week, 9-hour shifts (11a-8p / 12p-9p / 1p-10p) and a 36-hour work week are offered, with full-time benefits eligibility.

Ideal candidates hold an accredited nursing program credential, an active RN license in the state, BLS certification, and preferably ACLS/PALS with at least one year in critical care or PACU.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS and PALS strongly preferred.
  • At least one year of previous critical care, emergency department or PACU experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
  • Engage in evidence-based practice and clinical decision making to ensure patient safety and optimal experience.

Where You Will Work

Our fast‑paced Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Carolinas Medical Center provides comprehensive, high‑acuity recovery care for patients emerging from surgery in a Level I Trauma Center. We care for a diverse and complex patient population, including trauma, emergent, and elective surgical cases across all specialties. Nurses in our PACU are highly skilled in critical assessment, hemodynamic stabilization, airway management, and rapid clinical decision‑making.

We’re Looking For

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

  • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
