Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking experienced PACU RNs for unit-based PRN roles. Candidates should have 2+ years PACU RN experience, an active MD RN license, and BLS. ACLS/PALS are preferred or obtainable within 6 months after hire.

Relocation assistance up to $5,000 and free parking are among the nursing benefits offered. The PACU is part of a state-of-the-art surgical pavilion and supports cross-training to PreOp as needed.

Qualifications

• RN with 2+ years PACU experience preferred.
• Active MD RN License or Compact State RN and BLS required.
• ACLS, PALS preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Open to experienced RNs with PACU experience, 2+ years preferred.
• Cross-training opportunities to PreOp.
• Unit-based PRN shifts with rotating weekends/nights and one holiday per year.

Post Operative Care Unit (PACU) Summary

• Phase I PACU on 1st floor
• Variety of Post-Op patients (Ortho & neuro surgery, OB/GYN, Plastics, Gender Affme??, Robotics, everything except open heart and transplant cases)
• Excellent teamwork and fun environment
• Lower turnover
• Part of our state-of-the-art surgical pavilion, which opened in 8/2020
• Lower call frequency
• Ability to be cross-trained to PreOp

Available Roles

• Unit based PRN

Requirements

• 4 shifts in 6 weeks, two weekend or nights shifts in 6 weeks, 1 holiday or hard-to-fill shift annually

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• 1 year of RN experience required. For the full-time role, 2+ years of PACU RN experience strongly preferred. Experience with vents a plus.
• Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross). ACLS, PALS preferred or PALS within 6 months after hire.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $36.50 - USD $60.34 /Hr.
