Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking experienced PACU nurses for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit in Baltimore, MD. Open to RNs with 2+ years PACU experience; strong teamwork in a state-of-the-art surgical pavilion.

Requirements include ADN/BSN/MSN/CNL, active MD RN or compact state license, and BLS; ACLS/PALS preferred. PRN unit-based roles with benefits and relocation support.

Qualifications

• ADN/BSN/MSN/CNL from an accredited nursing program.
• 1 year RN experience required; 2+ years PACU RN preferred for full-time.
• Active MD RN license or compact state license; BLS required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthesia care in the PACU.
• Monitor vitals, manage pain, and ensure patient safety.
• Coordinate with surgical team for smooth handoffs.

Post Operative Care Unit (PACU) Summary

• Phase I PACU on 1st floor
• Variety of Post-Op patients (Ortho & neuro surgery, OB/GYN, Plastics, Gender Affimation, Robotics, everything except open heart and transplant cases)
• Excellent teamwork and fun environment
• Lower turnover
• Part of our state-of-the-art surgical pavilion, which opened in 8/2020
• Lower call frequency
• Ability to be cross-trained to PreOp

Available Roles

• Unit based PRN

Requirements

• 4 shifts in 6 weeks, two weekend or nights shifts in 6 weeks, 1 holiday or hard-to-fill shift annually

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• 1 year of RN experience required. For the full-time role, 2+ years of PACU RN experience strongly preferred. Experience with vents a plus.
• Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross). ACLS, PALS preferred or PALS within 6 months after hire.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $36.50 - USD $60.34 /Hr.
