Job summary

Centerpoint Health - Paris, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse in PACU to join a dedicated surgical team. You will participate in perioperative care from pre-op through recovery and collaborate with a multidisciplinary staff to ensure patient comfort, safety, and quality outcomes.

The role requires an active Kentucky nursing license, an associate degree in nursing, and BLS certification; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • ACLS & PALS (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and other clinical tasks.
  • Documents patient care provided and communicates patient condition to the team.
  • Prepares, positions, and transports patients for procedures.
  • Prepares surgical and endoscopy suites and ensures proper reprocessing of scopes.
  • Cares for patients throughout perioperative process and supports transfers/discharges.

Centerpoint Health - Paris also offers services in Behavioral Health consisting of a 33-bed inpatient facility. Our multi-disciplinary approach enlists the services of a dedicated team of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, therapists, nurses, social workers, mental health technicians, recreation therapists, and Kentucky certified teachers. Our Behavioral Health department also utilizes certified therapy dogs in the healing process when applicable.

The Surgery Department at Centerpoint Paris is a collaborative, patient-focused team dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care from pre-op through recovery. Our department features 8 pre-operative rooms and 3 modern OR suites, allowing us to care for a diverse patient population while maintaining a personalized, community-hospital feel. Team members gain experience across a wide variety of procedures, including GI services such as EGDs and colonoscopies, orthopedic surgeries, ENT procedures, and cataract surgeries. We pride ourselves on teamwork, flexibility, and delivering compassionate care that helps our patients feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout their surgical journey/

How You'll Contribute
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Prepares, positions, and transports patients for procedures.
  • Prepares surgical and endoscopy suites with solutions, scopes, equipment, and supplies. Validates proper reprocessing of scopes for every procedure.
  • Assesses and cares for patients throughout the perioperative process, including pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
  • Operates specialized equipment and maintains a safe environment.
  • Accounts for use of supplies during surgical/endoscopy procedures.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances throughout the perioperative process.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
