Job summary

Tidelands Health in Murrells Inlet, SC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PACU to provide high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care. You will monitor recovery, manage pain and vitals, and document care, while collaborating with the care team to ensure timely interventions and patient comfort.

Qualified candidates hold an ADN with BSN/MSN preferred, SC RN licensure, and BLS certification within 30 days; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN/MSN preferred.
• SC RN license required to practice in South Carolina.
• BLS certification required within 30 days; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor post-operative patients’ levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
• Record patients’ vital signs and update charts.
• Observe for signs of anesthesia-related side effects and manage pain/nausea.
• Collaborate with medical team on post-operative care and interventions.
• Educate patients and families on post-surgery care and answer questions.

A Brief Overview

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered.

What you will do

• Monitor post-operative patients’ levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
• Measure and record patients’ vital signs.
• Closely observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
• Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
• Update charts, patient files, and medical records.
• Collaborate with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitate timely specialized interventions.
• Provide comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
• Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.

Education Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing. (ADN) Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. (BSN) Preferred
• Master’s Degree in Nursing. (MSN) Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• Previous experience in PACU/OPS Preferred
• Critical Care experience Required

Skills and Abilities

• Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred
• Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation with South Carolina Board of Nursing
