Job description

At UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, we are more than a hospital - we are a trusted partner in every stage of a woman's life. From groundbreaking research and advanced treatments to compassionate, personalized care, Magee has been a leader in women's health for generations. Whether welcoming new life, supporting complex health needs, or guiding patients through every milestone, our experts combine innovation with empathy to deliver care that inspires confidence and comfort. UPMC Magee is honored to have been designated as a Magnet-designated hospital - twice! At Magee, we don't just treat patients - we care for people, families, and futures. Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of women's health.

Orthopedics (4100) is a 30-bed medical-surgical orthopedic unit that primarily cares for patients who have undergone elective surgeries such as hip and knee replacements, and we also receive all of Magee's post-op bariatric surgery patients. We frequently use specialty orthopedic equipment such as continuous passive motion machines and bed trapezes. This is a patient-centered rehabilitative unit, a great environment for someone who wants to be directly involved in rehab as well as care; we also receive an overflow of general med-surg patients, making 4100 a perfect fit for graduate nurses and nurses seeking to build broad knowledge and/or gain new experience.

What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse?

The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients' families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

As a Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. At all times, you will exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
