Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Kansas is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Ortho/Med-Surg unit on a PRN basis. You will provide professional nursing care under physician supervision and support coordination of patient care.

Ideal candidates hold ADN or BSN with Kansas license, and have current BLS; ACLS/PALS preferred. This role emphasizes mentoring, patient education and adherence to policies; offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas or compact state.
• Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or orientation.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, AWHONN may be required per department/entity policy.
• Preferred BSN; prior experience in a similar environment.
• Knowledge of basic nursing principles; effective communication; multitasking; and basic computer skills.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Ortho/Med-Surg - PRN

Essential Responsibilities

• Provides care to patients under the direction of a physician. Mentors, develops and trains new staff and students. Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures. Accurately evaluate patient needs and review/maintain a comprehensive care plan within scope
• Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals and including the patient and family in discussions regarding medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care skills. Provide for accurate administration and evaluation of medication, management of medication orders, and delivery of medication to patients in a timely manner. Educate the patient/family on physical, emotional and psychosocial aspects of care, disease process, symptom and pain management, and signs and symptoms of death (when appropriate). Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy. Observes the patients’ physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions and reports any changes as directed. Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values. Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Required License/Certifications/Registrations
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas or compact state.
• Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, AWHONN may be required per department/entity policy.
