Job Summary

The Registered Nurse position is located in our Main Operating Room, a full‑time, 36 hours per week role. Shifts are Monday through Friday, typically two 8‑hour and two 10‑hour shifts at the main campus on Charles St Boston. The RN maintains professional nursing practice standards, demonstrates competence in patient care, and uses the nursing process (continuous assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and education). The RN directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of nursing practice. The RN works collaboratively with interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians, caring for ophthalmology and otolaryngology patients in a 12‑room main OR. Excellent observational skills, prioritization, stress management and interpersonal communication are required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional nursing practice standards and demonstrate competence for patient care.
• Apply the nursing process: continuous assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and patient education.
• Direct and guide ancillary personnel while upholding nursing standards.
• Collaborate with interns, residents, fellows, and attending physicians in the main OR.
• Provide care to ophthalmology and otolaryngology patients.
• Manage stress, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with the care team.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing; baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience; OR nursing experience required.
• Advanced clinical and specialty experience; demonstrated leadership and strong verbal and written communication.
• Membership in a professional nursing organization desired.
