Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a skilled surgical nurse to join the operating room team at West Jefferson Medical Center in Louisiana. You will coordinate patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring safety and high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Required are an active Louisiana nursing license and BLS certification; operating room experience is preferred. The role involves day shifts and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care across the perioperative continuum.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Operating room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery and review history.
• Provide patient care including supplies, medication administration, positioning, vitals monitoring and health assessments.
• Perform clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor patients post-surgery for pain, complications, and wound healing.
• Maintain a safe environment and ensure continuity of care and effective communication.

Your Everyday

Prepare your patient for surgery, review patient history, and provide patient care and support including supplies needed, medicine administration, patient positioning, vitalsignsmonitoring, and health assessments.

Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.

Monitor your patient after surgery for pain and/or complications and the surgery site for healing or infection following Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.

Performs CPR or other emergency measures if required.

Collaborate toidentifyand meet the overall needs of patient care or when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.

Maintain andadvocatea safe environment for everyone.

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.

Initiate patient and family education on the operation and post-operationcare asrequired.

The Must-Haves

Minimum:

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Preferred:

Operating room experience
