Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the System-Wide OR Float Pool in New Jersey. This full-time, dayshift role involves rotating across sites with assignments averaging about three months each, and regional or system-wide float opportunities.

The RN will perform assessments, administer treatments, support physicians, educate patients, and maintain EMR documentation in EPIC, with ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• CNOR preferred; BSN strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments and hands-on care.
• Serve as clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers for coordinated care.
• Educate patients and families clearly and compassionately for next steps.
• Document accurately in EMR to ensure continuity and safety.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.

In this role, RNs have the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad scope of patient care within their specialty area while working assignments at each of the sites throughout our system. The RNs support the team and the patients at each site for an average of three months per assignment. There are opportunities available to float regionally (to the northern or the southern region sites) or to float throughout the entire RWJBH system.You will help advance patient care and strengthen the experience of individuals and families across our organization. As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients

• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment

• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions

• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care

• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification with at least 3years of Operating Roomexperience in a hospital setting. CNOR preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is strongly preferred or must be completed within 5 years upon hire. Comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a full-time, dayshift schedule 40 hours per week, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
