RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Operating Room RN in New Brunswick, NJ. The role involves perioperative nursing duties within a busy OR, collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team, and ongoing professional growth opportunities.

Candidates must hold an active NJ RN license, with CNOR preferred and EPIC EMR experience encouraged. The position offers day shift, Monday–Friday 7am-3:30pm with on-call weekends and holidays, and a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Current BLS certification required; CNOR preferred
• Two-three years OR RN experience; EPIC EMR familiarity recommended

Responsibilities

• Assist in perioperative nursing in the OR and participate in interdisciplinary rounds
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for clinical changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely with strong clinical judgment
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers to coordinate timely care
• Educate patients and families and ensure clear documentation in EMR

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• The OR Nursing team works cooperatively with the multidisciplinary care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the perioperative setting and participates in shared clinical decision-making, inspirational leadership, supportive colleagues, and much more,
• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification and CNOR certification preferred. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is required or actively enrolled in a BSN program with an expected completion date. Two-Three years of experience as an Operating Room RN experience. Comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. Monday – Friday 7am-3:30pm with required On Call Weekends, & Holidays.
