Job summary

Sovah Health - Danville is recruiting an Registered Nurse in the Operating Room to support perioperative care across multiple specialties. You will assist in preparing the surgical suite, position patients, and collaborate with surgeons and staff to ensure safe, high-quality care close to home.

The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with typically 8-hour shifts and a rotating call schedule depending on department needs.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license for VA or compact state license.
  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Experience in clinical area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration and procedures.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors and communicates patient condition to care team and family.
  • Prepares and transports patients for procedures.
  • Ensures proper reprocessing of scopes and maintains sterile environment.
  • Coordinates perioperative care across the care team.

Our 10-room surgical suite supports a wide range of specialties with 17 surgeons utilizing block time. Nurses have the opportunity to circulate and assist in procedures across:

  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • OB/GYN
  • Urology
  • ENT
  • Spine
  • Pulmonary

We are proud to utilize advanced technology, including Mako and da Vinci robotic systems, reflecting our commitment to best practices and a patient-first approach.

With many nurses on the unit having 15+ years of experience, mentorship and hands-on training are readily available. Our strong multidisciplinary teamwork sets us apart, with a shared goal of delivering safe, high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

How you will contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Prepares, positions, and transports patients for procedures.
  • Prepares surgical and endoscopy suites with solutions, scopes, equipment, and supplies. Validates proper reprocessing of scopes for every procedure.
  • Assesses and cares for patients throughout the perioperative process, including pre-procedure and post-procedure care.
  • Operates specialized equipment and maintains a safe environment.
  • Accounts for use of supplies during surgical/endoscopy procedures.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances throughout the perioperative process.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we are looking for

The right person who will provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Applicants should have a current RN VA or compact state license and possess an associate's degree in nursing.

Additional requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support
  • Experience in clinical area preferred

Hourlyrange: $31.49 - $42.51 per hour
