Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the One Day Surgery PACU at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. This fast-paced perianesthesia unit serves a broad surgical population, with phases I and II recovery and a Monday–Friday schedule (0700–2030) with no call shifts.

You will provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, uphold safety and patient experience, and pursue clinical ladder opportunities while engaging in evidence-based practice

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• RN license issued by the state of practice.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS certification required.
• At least one year of Critical Care, Emergency Department, or PACU experience preferred.

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.

Registered Nurse (RN) – Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center One Day Surgery PACU

Where You Will Work:

One Day Surgery PACU is a fast‑paced and rewarding nursing environment that cares for a broad and dynamic surgical population. Our patients include those undergoing GYN, GYN/Oncology, UroGYN, Robotic procedures, General Surgery, ENT, Orthopedic Trauma, Urology, Breast Oncology, Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery, and Pediatrics. This diverse case mix offers an enriching experience for nurses looking to expand their clinical skill set and build a strong foundation in Perianesthesia nursing.

Our PACU includes a 14‑bay Phase I areaand a 13‑bay Phase II area. PACU nurses work in both phases, providing immediate post‑anesthesia recovery care as well as later‑stage preparation for discharge. This integrated model allows nurses to develop a deeper, more comprehensive knowledge of Perianesthesia nursing across the full continuum of care.

We’re Looking For:

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

• ACLS required

• At least one year of previous Critical Care, Emergency Department, or PACU experience strongly preferred for this position.

• As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

• Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
