Job summary

Valley Baptist - Harlingen is seeking a Registered Nurse for night shifts to provide direct clinical patient care and supervise staff across assigned units. The role ensures high-quality, safe nursing services in alignment with hospital standards and the CNO.

The candidate will be a nursing school graduate, Texas-licensed, with BLS and ideally ACLS/PALS/NRP as required by policy. Comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Texas licensure required (or as state policy)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred
• Current license/certification to practice nursing in state of Texas (or as required)
• AHA BLS required; ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable by policy

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, safe, total nursing care to all patients
• Coordinate and integrate patient care based on the nursing process
• Direct care per safety standards, risk management, QA, and infection control with goal of optimal discharge
• Coordinate and plan patient care within the prescribed medical regime
• Administer medications safely per hospital policy
• Fulfill HICS responsibilities during emergencies and disasters
• Know hospital emergency codes and act according to policies

JOB DESCRIPTION

Full Time, Nights

This role provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis, and unit level. The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients.
• The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
• The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided.
• Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime.
• Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
• Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
• Responsible for knowing the Hospital's emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing

Experience
Preferred: Recent acute care experience.

Certifications
Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
