Job summary

Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care and coordinate patient treatment in alignment with established standards. The role emphasizes safe medication administration and adherence to infection control policies within a supportive team.

The position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and active RN licensure, with additional certifications such as BLS and ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as required by state law.
• AHA BLS, and ACLS/PALS/NRP as applicable by corporate policy.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective nursing care to all patients.
• Assumes responsibility for coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
• Directs care per established safety standards, risk management, QI, and infection control with goal of discharge.
• Coordinates and plans patient care within prescribed medical regime.
• Administers medications safely and timely per hospital policy.
• Performs and fulfills HICS responsibilities during emergencies.
• Knows hospital emergency codes and follows policies for each.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients.
• The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
• The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided.
• Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime.
• Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
• Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
• Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• License & Certifications: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.

Preferred Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
• Experience: Recent acute care experience.
