Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for night shifts to provide direct patient care and supervise staff per shift. The role supports the CNO in delivering high-quality, safe nursing care while ensuring resource management and staff competency.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active RN license; BSN/MSN preferred and recent acute care experience is valued. U.S. healthcare facility benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure.
• Current active nursing license in state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required by policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, safe, patient-centered nursing care per shift.
• Coordinate and integrate patient care using the nursing process.
• Adhere to safety, risk management, QA, and infection control standards.
• Plan and coordinate patient care within the prescribed medical regime.
• Administer medications safely and timely per hospital policy.
• Fulfill HICS roles as directed during emergencies and disasters.
• Know hospital emergency codes and act per policies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Full Time, Nights

This role provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis, and unit level. The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients.
• The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
• The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided.
• Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime.
• Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy.
• Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
• Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• EducationRequired: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
• ExperiencePreferred: Recent acute care experience
• CertificationsRequired: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
