Job summary

Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for the Obstetrics Float Pool in the Family Birthing Center. This full‑time night position comprises 3 12‑hour shifts per week, serving Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and Intermediate Care Nursery units with a 36-hour work week.

You will deliver and coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, uphold safety and quality standards, and support families through the childbirth journey.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• RN license valid in the state of practice.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• NRP certification.
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, Maternal-Baby and/or SCN.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process.
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in line with standards and policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams.

Where You Will Work

Our Family Birthing Center has 10 Labor Beds/ 5 Antepartum/ 10 Triage/ 2OB ORs. 24 Mother Baby beds and 16 Intermediate Care Nursery Beds. 150-175 deliveries per month.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP
• Previous experience in Labor & Delivery, Maternal-Baby and/or SCN

As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
