Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Nursery Women's Services on Nights, Part Time with rotating weekends. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process and collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role requires a Kentucky RN license, BLS certification, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining compassionate family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Current Kentucky RN license or compact license.
• Active BLS certification; STABLE certification as required by nursery commitments.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Performs plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Documents patient care given and communicates patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and coordinates transfers, discharges, and referrals as needed.
• Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides age- and culture-appropriate education.
• Acts as advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Summary Job Functions

• Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.


• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.


• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment


• Documents patient care given.


• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.


• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.


• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.


• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.


• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient

Non-Essential Functions

Education

• Associate's degree in nursing required; bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.


• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

License/Certifications

• Current RN to practice/work in the state of Kentucky;


• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.


• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (or) obtained within 90 days after hire date;


• Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification OR obtained after 6 months of nursery experience but prior to completing 12 months of nursery experience.


• Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation certification within 90 days after hire date.
