Amatus Health seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for a full-time night position at Baltimore Detox Center. The RN will report to the Director of Nursing and work with Charge Nurses to manage assessments, medications, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing required.
• Associates in Nursing (AA or ADN) required.
• Detox and psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• 1+ year RN experience in detox or similar setting.
• CPR certification active.
• Experience with administering meds (oral, subcutaneous, IM).
• Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred.
• Familiarity with Joint Commission Standards of Care for Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications as directed by medical team.
• Make independent clinical decisions within license scope.
• Inform Chief Nursing Officer and Charge Nurse of important decisions.
• Monitor and document patient care in the Electronic Health System.
• Perform nursing assessments at intake.
• Conduct CIWA and COWS shift assessments.
• Update progress notes and discharge planning documentation.
• Handle discharge assessments and infection control precautions.
• Reconcile medications at end of shift with log maintenance.
• Ensure proper handoff during shift changes to maintain care standards.

We are in search of an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time night position at Baltimore Detox Center! The individual will work under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Charge Nurses.

Registered Nurse (RN) Qualifications:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for all aspects of nursing care including but not limited to: nursing assessment plan, treatment plan development, ASAM admission criteria, daily assessments and medication administration and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client coordination with the attending physician, ARNP, Clinical Treatment Team and Chief Nursing Officer.

• Associates in Nursing

• 1+ years of experience as a RN in a detox or similar treatment facility environment

• State RN license in good standing

• Maintains current CPR certification

• Detox and Psychiatric Nursing experience required

• Experienced in administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM

• Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and of a critically dangerous medical emergency and respond appropriately

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

• Able to respond physically with swiftness to a patient emergency

• Able to respond calmly and timely during an emergency or potential emergency situation

• Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred

• Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health

• Electronic Health Record experience

• CPR certification

Registered Nurse (RN) Duties:

The Detox Nurse is instrumental in guiding the patient through their detox process per the physician's orders. As well, the Detox nurse works to educate the patient about his/her condition and to assist the physician and ARNP by the accurate clinical reporting of patient conditions, status and proper clinical actions. The Detox Nurse is involved in nursing assessments at intake and performs necessary discharge nursing actions as well as routine reports needed from clinical for insurance patients. This position is responsible for the proper administration, reconciliation, storage and security of all medications. The Detox Nurse reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. The specific tasks and responsibilities for this position include:

• Administers prescribed medications, as prescribed by medical team

• Makes independent decisions within the scope of their license involving patient care

• Uses sound judgment in the informing of the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and the Medical Director of all decisions made and when/how they should be communicated

• Monitors and records through our Electronic Health System all aspects of the patients care which includes:

Nursing assessments during intake

Shift Assessments including CIWA and COWS assessments

Changes in patient condition and updates on progress; other relevant documentation, that arise with each individual patient

Discharge assessments and paperwork, follows Universal Infections Control Precautions using personal protective equipment as required, ensures that direct care staff performs these precautions as well as abides by Infection Control and Exposure policies

Reconciles medication at the end of each shift which includes the responsibility of accurately maintaining logs of distribution of controlled substances in accordance to regulation

• Ensures that during shift change the nurse on duty is properly informed of any information needed to continue high standards of care for all patients.
